I love Halloween!
I wish kids came by our house, but they don’t. There just aren’t a lot of kids in our area. Missing the fun of handing out candy and toy bags, (oh, yeah, I said it… candy AND toys) I started manning the door at my mom’s house, which for a few years was spectacular. At the hight of our Halloween popularity, we gave out 78 bags of loot in one night. My favorite year we had bags with little plastic figurines in them. As one little boy walked away he looked in the bag and shouted, “dinosaurs!” He came back and very sweetly asked for one more bag, which I gave him. I have never seen so much surprise and joy on one face at the same time and all it took was a ten cent t-rex. Sadly, time marched on and all of the kids near mom’s house grew up and now the local high school hosts a carnival as an alternative to trick or treating.
Next year, I might do a little history of Halloween entertaining.
I hope you have robust trick or treating near you and have a wonderful time. Spookily yours, Cheri
